SD HIGHWAY 37 RECONSTRUCTION FOR 2024 SCALED BACK – PUBLIC HEARING ON MAY 2ND

Plans have been developing for several years on the reconstruction of SD 37 through Huron.  The first part of that project from 3rd street north to 9th street south was scheduled for this year.  Due to planning delays and bid letting coming at a later time period that has caused a delay in the project.  Assistand City Engineer Dennis Bennett updated the Huron City Commission Monday night.

The portion from Market Street to 3rd street North will completed in 2025 along with the 5th street south to 9th street.  That will give a one year reprieve in the removal of trees along that stretch.  One year later in 2026 9th street to 21st street will be reconstructed.

This summer schedule with two segments.  The first will start on May 13 and run to July 15th.  That section will be just south of Market not in the intersection to just north of 3rd street.  The second phase will overlap and begin on June 25th and is scheduled through September 11.  The will cover through the 3rd street intersection to just north of 5th street.

A public pre construction meeting will be held on May 2nd.
