The Nordby Center for Recreation (NCR) announced today that long-time Executive Director Shelly Buddenhagen has announced her resignation from Huron’s largest fitness facility after a dedicated 22 year career.
“I poured my life into this facility, I am proud of what we have done, and the staff that is on hand is committed to maintain the high standards that the Nordby Center Members are familiar with, “ said Buddenhagen. “This is a bittersweet change in my life and I have always strived to succeed and serve in the best manner capable…it has been an awesome 22 years.” I would like to thank the community, the NCR members, the staff, and all the Board members who supported me over the years. I am so grateful to have spent time with people who were like family to me and my family. I will miss the people and relationships.
Buddenhagen, who was also a long time Huron High School Varsity Volleyball coach, has accepted a position with North Country Region Volleyball, which is one of 40 regions in the nation an affiliate of USA Volleyball, the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the United States as designated by the United States Olympic Committee. North Country Region is the upper Midwest chapter of USA Volleyball. The Region serves as the foremost agency for junior and adult players, club directors and coaches, parents and spectators, officials and scorekeepers, sitting volleyball and sand volleyball with the intent of growing the game.
“Shelly is an amazing spirit and was committed to The Nordby every hour of every day, but her passion for volleyball is no secret, and for her to make a move to work for USA Volleyball and the North Country Region Volleyball program is a testament to her passion and dedication to the sport,” said Tom Glanzer, Nordby Center for Recreation Board President. “Shelly will be missed at the Nordby on a daily basis, but she will be an amazing asset for North Country Region, USA Volleyball and the development of athletes in this region.”
The Nordby Center for Recreation is a non-profit health club offering members cardio, weight training, swimming pool, boxing/kick boxing room, oversized gymnasium that is used for tennis, volleyball, basketball and other fitness classes. Learn more at www.nordbycenter.org
