CHANGES COMING FOR THE SCHOOL FREE LUNCH PROGRAM

School districts across the country have been told of a change in the federal governments free school lunch program over the past two years.  The government picked up the costs with the coronavirus in place.  Huron School district nutrition manager Amanda Reilly said they are preparing to switch back to the free, reduced and paid program this fall.

Reilly said they are planning out sending out a letter soon to let parents know that they will be returning to the normal of free, reduced or paid based on the application filled out.  The mailing will be after July 1st.  The application will need to be returned by August 17th to ensure students that need free or reduced meals have that availability before school starts August 18th.
