Wind and Ice Trigger Outages in Northwestern Energy Service Area

Blizzard conditions have been keeping Northwestern Energy crews busy as they work to restore power to customers across their service area who are affected by outages.

Spokesman Tom Glanzer says the ice and wind began causing problems last night.

Glanzer says most of the remaining outages are isolated.

Northwestern Energy has pulled crews in areas of Wessington, Saint Lawrence, Menno, Wolsey, and Freeman until weather and road conditions stabilize.

Glanzer says customers can track outages online via the “outage map” at NorthwesternEnergy.com. He also reminds the public to call Northwestern Energy or 911 if they encounter downed power lines.
