Huron Tiger track and field will host the annual Wendelgass Relays this afternoon at Tiger Stadium. It’s a last chance for athletes to qualify for next week’s state track meet.
The Huron athletic department will also hold a dedication at 3:25 for a shot put bench, which Huron head coach Tom Baszler says is being placed in memory of former coach Bob Timm and former Tiger Mark Kool.
Mark Kool still holds the school record for boys shot put. Baszler says the Tigers will also be introducing special awards for high jump, pole vault, discus, and shot put which are named after former Huron coaches.
The discus award is named for former coach Steve Peters, pole vault for the late Dan Thelen, high jump for the late Steve Swisher, and shot put for the late Bob Timm.
