The city commission has approved the promotion of Captain Kevin Van Diepen to Police Chief. Van Diepen will take over from the retiring Denny Meyer. The promotion is effective December 21.
Also at last nights meeting, Commissioner Bryan Smith announced there are vacancies on two city boards.
You are asked to contact city planner Ralph Borkowski if you are interested in serving on the historical preservation committee or librarian Shirley Apley if you would like to serve on the public library board.
The commission also announced the holiday schedule for the Huron Solid Waste Department. The department will be closed Saturday, December 23rd and Monday, December 25th in observance of Christmas.
Monday’s garbage and recycle collection will be done on Wednesday, December 27th.
