A normal part of preparing for severe weather in the past has been spotter training with the national weather service in the spring. The last two years those training sessions have not been allowed in person due to the covid 19 situation. Peter Rogers with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls said its good to get back to an in person format.
Rogers said they are constantly learning judging from some uncommon severe weather over the winter.
There are two spotter classes in the area this week.
One class at 630 tonight 3/39/22 in Desmet at the event center.
