Movie Shot in Pierre/Ft. Pierre Area Begins One Week Run at Huron Luxury Cinema

A movie that was filmed primarily in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area begins a one week run at Huron Luxury Cinema tonight.

The writer and director of “Tater Tot & Patton” Andrew Kightlinger is a Pierre native. He went to Riggs High, attended Augustana College, and is the son of recently retired state epidemiologist Lon Kightlinger.

He calls the movie a “love letter to South Dakota”.

Kightlinger, says filming in South Dakota presented some challenges.

Kightlinger says other than a few thunderstorm, South Dakota’s unpredictable weather didn’t present any difficulties during filming.

Kightlinger will be at Friday’s showing of “Tater Tot and Patton” and will participate in a Q&A session after the 7 pm showing.
