McCarty Reflects on 23 Year Coaching Career

Long time Huron Tiger wrestling coach Dan McCarty is retiring at the end of the school year. McCarty has been head wrestling coach in Huron for the past 23 years, and a teacher in the district for the past 29. McCarty says there are some things he wants to do while he is still young enough.

McCarty coached 14 state champions and 20 state runnersup while head coach, and the Tigers finished second at the 2012 state tournament, and 3rd in 2013.

He also coached Huron to a pair of ESD titles, in 2008 and 2011. He was also 8th grade football coach for several years.

Mat Goth, a 2013 graduate of Madison High School, will take over as head coach next winter.

Listen for the complete interview with Coach McCarty Saturday morning on Dakota Sports Saturday.
