The Chief of Police for the City of Huron, Kevin Van Diepen will be retiring later this month. Van Diepen started his law enforcement career with the Huron Police Department in 1988. Kevin talks about the biggest ongoing concerns in the city of Huron.
In nearly 36 years of law enforcement Van Diepen said many things have changed.
Van Diepen said another big change is how the community follow incidents.
He said community diversity has had an impact on the Huron Police Department.
Several months ago Kevin announced his candidacy for a District 22 house seat in the state legislature. He talks about what brought him to that decision.
Kevin Van Diepen’s last day is April 19th.
