Huron Tiger track and field came home with one state title at the State Track meet this past weekend as senior Matt Katz won the AA boys pole vault.
Katz joins Regan and Trent Francom as state champs in the event in recent years, plus Matt’s sister Shannon was a state runner up two years ago.
Huron track and field coach Tom Baszler says the program developed by the late Dan Thelen and continued by current coach Michael Schmitz has produced state contenders year in and year out.
Baszler says its no surprise that Katz was a three sport athelete as well.
Katz cleared 15 feet to win the title.
