While many communities across South Dakota are dealing with declining sales tax collections, Huron has recently seen an increase in those numbers.
Jim Borszich Executive Director with Greater Huron Development Corporation says it’s a trend that began last year.
In addition to the unique circumstances that contributed to 2016, Borszich believes a renewed commitment to shopping local has also played a big part in the increase.
In Feb. Huron posted a 16% YTD increase in collections.
