Monday night at the Huron School Board meeting the board heard from members of the community about the change in mask policy that went into place when classes resumed after labor day. The change to yellow requires all personnel, students and visitors to wear masks in school facilities. Educator and concerned parent Ashley Armstrong said the district did not get the input from parents, teachers or students on the matter.
Armstrong stated the masking policy is hindering learning.
Parent of a student Dan Copeland cautioned the district if they continue with the policy.
Chairman of the Beadle County task force Doug Ramsell said their recommendations are not reactive.
Parent Adam Fleishaker spoke on a study of mask usage.
Following the comments, superintendent Dr Kraig Steinhoff wrapped up the public hearing.
The district took comments under advisement for future board reference.
