HURON PUBLIC LIBRARY HOMEBOUND BOOK DELIVERY

The Huron Public Library is excited to offer patrons a new service: Homebound Book Delivery. It will be provided to residents of Huron, South Dakota who are not physically able to come to the library. “Homebound” is defined as being generally confined to the residence either temporarily, due to illness or accident, or permanently, due to age, disability, or other mobility impairment. Nursing homes and assisted living facilities can also apply for this program by having their Programs Coordinator contact the library.

Materials will be delivered by library staff or volunteers on the 3rd Wednesday of the month beginning at 10:00am. These deliveries will be made to the front door. When materials are delivered, the items from the previous delivery will be retrieved and returned to the library.

There is no fee for homebound delivery and overdue fines will not be charged. Only items belonging to the Huron Public Library in the following formats: regular print, large print, paperbacks, audiobooks, and DVDs are available. Inter Library Loan (ILL) items are not included in this service. Library staff can choose titles for patrons based on preferences selected on the signup application form. Patrons can also call the library to reserve specific titles.

Each patron must register for a library card if they do not already have one. Accounts will be updated and new cards will be issued for patrons who already have a library card. Library cards will be kept at the library along with completed application forms. Contact the library at 605-353-8530 (ask for Angela) to sign up a homebound book delivery account today!
