DUSTY JOHNSON COMMENTS ON USPS PLANS TO CONVERT DAKOTA CENTRAL TO A LOCAL PROCESSING CENTER

As part of a $40 billion investment strategy to upgrade and improve postal processing, transportation and delivery network.  The United States Postal Service announced its plans to modernize mail operations including at Dakota Central Processing Center in Huron.  The review a part of a ten year “delivering for american” plan to improve organization and operational processes.  The statement said Dakota Central would become a Local processing center.  The plan calls for a large portion of mail to be directed to Fargo, North Dakota instead of being processed in Huron.  The goal is to reach 95 percent on time delivery for all mail products.  Us Representative Dusty Johnson along with Senator John Thune and Mike Rounds weighed in on the issue to the USPS.  Johnson questioned weather the pace of delivery would be improved.

Johnson questioned the process for the changes proposed.

He gives credit to the Postmaster General for improvements over the last few years.

With the transfer to the Fargo PD&C center the latest information states up to 13 craft and one management position being affected.

The statement from Johnson, rounds and Thune asked for the concerns to be addressed by May 1st from the USPS.
