VERMILLION, S.D.—University of South Dakota Director of Athletics Jon Schemmel and Deputy Athletic Director Corey Jenkins are excited to announce the promotion of Jarren Duffy to Associate Athletic Director for Fan Engagement.
“I am incredibly proud and excited for Jarren to step into this new role,” said Jenkins. “Jarren has earned this opportunity through the high quality of his work and his dedication to USD and our student-athletes. Under Jarren’s leadership, we will streamline our external operations and elevate the gameday experience for our fans and student-athletes.”
Duffy will continue to oversee the marketing, video and ticketing departments. In his new role, he will add oversight of communications, Coyote Sports Properties and serve as the liaison between athletics and Sodexo. He will also serve as the sport administrator for men’s and women’s swimming & diving and the women’s tennis teams.
“I would like to thank Jon Schemmel, Corey Jenkins and Gina Mockler for the opportunity to build something special in Vermillion,” said Duffy. “I am proud of the work that has been put in to this point and excited to work with the people in place within the athletics department and across campus to take Coyote athletics to new heights.”
A native of Huron, South Dakota and 2012 Huron High School graduate, Duffy’s career in athletic marketing began at the University of South Dakota. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from USD. He double-majored as an undergraduate, earning a bachelor’s of business administration in marketing and a bachelor of science in sport marketing and media in May of 2017. He completed his master’s degree in communications in 2019.
After spending the 2018-19 academic year as an associate for athletic marketing at Iowa State, Duffy returned to Vermillion as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions in July of 2019. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement in October of 2021.
Duffy resides in Vermillion with his wife, Katelyn. His new duties begin immediately.
