The deadline is coming up for longstanding South Dakota farm and ranch families to be recognized at this year’s State Fair.
Families who’ve enjoyed ownership of their farm or ranch for 100, 125 and 150 years will be recognized August 31st in Huron.
South Dakota Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Jodi Bechard says this is the first time a family will be recognized for reaching the 150 year mark
Bechard says applications forms are available on the websites of the Department of Agriculture and the South Dakota Farm Bureau.
There are eligibility requirements in order to be recognized
She says the recognition events for these longstanding farm and ranch families began in 1984
Bechard says the application deadline to be recognized at this year’s State Fair is August 11th.
