Commissioners Approve Change Order for 3rd Street Sewer Project

It was a light agenda at last night’s city commission meeting.

Commissioners approved a change order in the amount of $12,547.50 for heavy cleaning of sewer mains on 3rd Street. Visu-Sewer, Inc. was contracted to clean and reline sewer lines. The company says heavier than expected sediment build-up requires more cleaning.

Assistant City Engineer Dennis Bennett said moving forward the city will come up with a way to bid sanitary sewer main lining to address this issue. A jetting schedule will also be established.

Bennett said this should prevent future problems of this nature.

Also last night, commissioners approved the recommendation of the appraisal committee for a surplus police handgun and badge. Retiring Huron Police chief Denny Meyer will be allowed to purchase his pistol for $375 and his badge for $75.
