Last night, the city heard a semi-annual report from the South Dakota State Fair.
State Fair manager Peggy Besch says this year they will be transitioning to electronic scanning at the gates.
Also, new this year the fair is collaborating with the Huron Chamber & Visitor’s Bureau on shuttle service.
Besch also gave an update on various renovation projects that have taken place on the fairgrounds.
Besch says the grandstand remains a work in progress.
Other projects include the painting of the Women’s Building auditorium and the interior of the Horticulture Building and the expanding of the PA system.
The 2019 South Dakota State Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 2.
