We spoke with CAP Co2 Solutions CEO Dr. Jeff Bonar about a project to reduce carbon intensity reduction of 25 points to ethanol plants. The project is an alternative to pipelines sending liquid Co2 to North Dakota for underground sequestration. CAP Co2 would change the liquid Co2 into green methanol. Bonar said many people already know of methanol’s use.
CAP Co2 first site will be at Atkins Energy at Lena, Illinois and is scheduled to be in place by Summer.
Bonar said although plans call for the use of green methanol in the shipping industry. Green methanol has other domestic uses.
The SD House and Senate will need to come to a compromise on SB 201 the pipeline bill as it is still moving through the legislature.
