Board Hears Superintendent’s Recommendations as the Possibility of More Snow Days Looms

The approaching winter storm could mean more changes to the school calendar. Superintendent Terry Nebelsick offered recommendations to the board on how to deal with the possibility of two more snow days.

Nebelsick says the number of snow days in the district this school year is already above average.

8th-grade promotion has already been rescheduled to June 3rd. Nebelsick recommends leaving that date unchanged. He also proposes no changes for seniors.

Nebelsick is recommending a change to the scheduled last day of school, which had been moved to June 6th.

When asked by a student board member to clarify why the district calls off school for the entire day in some instances rather than starting late, Nebelsick explained his philosophy.

The board took no action on Nebelsick’s recommendations.
