The combined city and school board election comes up on April 9th. A candidate forum will be held on March 30 at the commission room at city hall at 9am. The mayor candidates will be first with commissioners Drew Weinreis and Bryan Smith and former commissioner Mark Robish. The school board forum will follow with two seats available. Candidates are incumbent Tim Van Berkum, Ray Cardona and Brittany Layher. There will be 3 minutes for opening comments and 2 minutes to close, questions from the public will fill the time. The forum is set to run from 9 to 10:30. City of Huron Finance Director Paullyn Carey said absentee voting is open now.
The election forum is presented by the Governmental Affairs committee of the Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau.
