8-12 Inches of Snow Predicted for Rapid City

There is yet another winter storm coming. John Chamberlain, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office Rapid City said West River will get the bulk of it.

He said 8 to 12 inches is predicted for Rapid City.

He said the temperature will dip down to freezing by Wednesday afternoon, that will create conditions to produce freezing rain and sleet in south central South Dakota

Chamberlain said some models show a quarter to a half inch of ice in that area, coupled with the wind will make travel difficult.

The strongest winds will come in Wednesday afternoon and blow into Thursday morning. he said they expect the snow to taper of late Wednesday.

Fans headed to the state tournament in Rapid City are being encouraged to leave Tuesday.
