Huron residents are invited and encouraged to come out and cheer on the 50 plus athletes competing in the Ravine Lake Triathlon this Saturday, July 27, 2019.
This triathlon began as a way to show off Huron’s oasis of fun with Ravine Lake and Putter’s and Scoops and has grown to be a favorite competitive event for casual and serious triathletes. It begins at 7:30 a.m. and include a 500-meter swim in Lake Ravine, 12.4 miles on the bike and a 5K run. In addition to individual racers, Corporate Cup teams from Hubbard Feeds and HRMC will compete to see who takes home the travelling Corporate (bike) Crank trophy.
Kids are invited to join in the free fun run which will take place about 9:00 a.m. All participants get a free ice cream cone at Putters and Scoops.
The grassy knoll at Putters & Scoops provides a great place to camp out in your lawn chair and watch as the swimmers depart from the beach and swim toward the island to a buoy set 200 meters into the lake, then turn and swim south before completing the triangle-shaped swim course at the shore. Participants then bike on Highway 14 and return to run through Memorial and Riverside Parks before finishing with a lap around the lake ending in front of Putter’s & Scoops.
Putters & Scoops will be serving coffees, ice cream and a full lunch menu. For those interested in competing, registration will be available on Friday evening during packet pick-up from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the shelter behind Putters & Scoops. Details are available at www.allsportcentral.com.
