Last night, the city commission announced the Solid Waste department will start collecting yard waste beginning the week of April 3rd. The yard waste will be collected on the same day as your garbage and recycling. Residence are asked to space containers 3 feet apart for the trucks to empty the containers. Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves and twigs.
The yard waste drop-off site will be open to the public the first part of April. Leaves, grass clippings, and twigs may be brought out to the rubble site during operating hours at no charge.
The Solid Waste Department will begin Summer Hours at the rubble site beginning Saturday April 8th. The hours are 8:00 to 4:15.
Also, a tire disposal program will be available to city residents in the month of April. Residents will be allowed to dispose of 4 car/pickup tires at no cost if they bring their April water utility bill. City and Beadle County residents may bring out unlimited loads of tires at the rate of 20% or $40.28 per ton. The State will pay the remaining 80% of the tire disposal cost. Businesses may not participate. The Tire Disposal Grant is for the entire month of April only.
A city wide cleanup will be held Thursday April 20th through Saturday April 22nd. City residents must bring along their April water utility bill to participate. Items allowed are classified as rubble, metal, trees, wood, electronics, and Freon removal fee during the cleanup. Household trash and material classified as Hazardous Waste will NOT be accepted. Businesses are excluded from the free city clean up.
