Keith Schrader has been working with the Beadle County Veteran’s Council and Veteran’s groups from throughout the county to make the Veteran’s Memorial located at 3rd and Wisconsin in downtown Huron more recognizable as a Memorial to military Veterans. The bricks originally planned for the wall are liable to crack due to moisture getting inside the bricks, then freezing, expanding and breaking. Schrader believes his goal of making the Memorial, look like a memorial is coming together…
The 2012-2013 Leadership Huron class raised over 28-thousand dollars for statues representing all branches of the United States Armed Forces, women in the military and military service canines. The group also sponsored a special statue recognizing Beadle County Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Micheal Fitzmaurice of Cavour. Schrader is hoping the enhancement project can be dedicated on Memorial Day of 2014.
