Work Begins on New SDSU Animal Lab

Work is underway on a new $58 million Animal Disease Research building on the South Dakota State University campus.

The South Dakota Legislature this year approved funding for the project.

SDSU President Barry Dunn says they had a groundbreaking ceremony at the end of August, and work is now just really getting started.

The lab SDSU has been working out of was built in 1968 and renovated in 1993. Dunn says it was too small and outdated, and it was time for this upgrade.

The new lab should be finished in the spring of 2020.
