Wolsey Wondering What The Hail Happened Wednesday Night

Severe weather brought large hail to the Wolsey area last night. The National Weather Service received a number of reports of hail larger than one inch at various places as a severe thunderstorm moved through. The storm first became severe in Buffalo County then moved northeast, across parts of Jerauld and Southern Hand County before a warning was first issued for Western Beadle County around 6:45. That warning was extended for North Central Beadle County when the storm lost strenght.  Amature storm chaser Cody Gardner reported a small funnel cloud four miles West Northwest of Huron at the intersection of 398th Avenue and 202nd Street at roughly 7:30 PM.  A storm south of Huron became briefly severe in Sanborn County around 9:45 PM. There have been no reports of damage from the storms that came through. Storm reports from last night include estimated golf ball sized hail 19 miles West Northwest of Wessington Springs at 6:30 PM, One inch hail, six miles south of Wolsey at 7:03 PM, estimated golf ball-sized hail South Southeast of Wolsey.  East of Wolsey at 7:05 hail stones were measured at two and half inches, and that was one hour after they fell from the sky. Golf ball sized hail was also reported two miles Northwest of Broadland at 7:26 PM
