Former Governor Harvey Wollman will be among the 2017 inductees into the South Dakota Hall of Fame.
Wollman was born in Frankfort. He graduated from Doland High School and later Huron College.
He was first elected to the SD State Senate in 1968. In 1974, he was elected to serve as Lt Governor alongside Governor Richard F. Kneip.
Wollman became Governor upon the resignation of Kneip, who was tapped to serve as President Jimmy Carter’s ambassador to Singapore. He served out the remainder of Kneip’s term from July 24th, 1978 until January 1st, 1979.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 9 at Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma.
Other inductees include former congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and USD president James Abbott.
