Carrie Wintle, Miss State Fair, and Heather Egbert, Miss USD, took home preliminary awards in the Talent and Swimsuit competitions at the Miss South Dakota Pageant Thursday night.
Wintle won the preliminary talent competition playing “Final Countdown” on the piano. Egbert took the swimsuit title wearing a red two-piece.
Wintle is from Iroquois and graduated with her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt. Egbert is from Vermillion and recently graduated from USD.
The talent award is a $500 scholarship, and $250 goes to the swimsuit winner.
McKenzie Norton, Miss Mitchell’s Outstanding Teen, took the fitness award among teen competitors.
The pageant continues tonight with another round of preliminary competition , and the crowning of a new Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen.
The Pageant Parade takes place Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. through downtown Hot Springs. The final competition is Saturday night.
