Winter Weather To Affect Area

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning (in pink) posted for areas to the east of Huron including Clark, Kingsbury and Miner counties.  The cities of Clark, Willow Lake, DeSmet and Howard are all a part of the Winter Storm Warning.  The rest of the area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 3 PM tomorrow.  More information on the winter storm is listed below the map…

RAIN SHOWERS AREA EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM…WHILE WIDESPREAD SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL DEVELOP BEHIND THIS SYSTEM. AS THE LOW APPROACHES THE AREA THIS MORNING…THERE COULD BE A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING DRIZZLE ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA…WHILE THE MAIN PRECIPITATION TYPE WILL BE RAIN ACROSS NORTHWEST IOWA. PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO SNOW FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE AREA TODAY.  STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THE SNOW…PRODUCING

      AFTERNOON… AND CONTINUE INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BECOME STRONG BY MIDDAY…WITH THE STRONG AND GUSTY   WINDS PRODUCING AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.

    * ACCUMULATIONS…SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

    * WIND AND VISIBILITY…NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS   OVER 40 MPH WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH  TUESDAY MORNING. SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL FREQUENTLY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO A MILE OR LESS.
