Wind Advisories And Warnings Today

A number of wind related advisories and warning are in effect for the area today. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 7 PM tonight for most of the listening area for Northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles an hour. Those winds could gust up to 45 miles an hour. A High Wind Warning is posted for Hand, Hyde, Spink and Clark Counties. Places like Highmore, Miller, Redfield and Clark could see sustained winds of 35 to 45 miles an hour with possible wind gusts to 55 miles an hour. To put that in perspective, low criteria for severe thunderstorm winds are 58 miles an hour. The National Weather Service advises caution for those driving high profile vehicles, such as semi-trucks, RVs and buses on East West highways as the gusty winds will be blowing across those routes. The Wind Advisory and High Wind Warnings are all set to expire at 7 PM tonight.
