PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota public universities and some K-12 schools will use federal grants totaling nearly $300,000 for six projects aimed at improving math and science instruction in middle schools and high schools. University science, math and education faculty members will work with teachers and administrators from high-need school districts to develop training for teachers. South Dakota State University will work on projects with the White River School District, Red Cloud Indian School, the Smee School District and the Summit School District. Black Hills State University will work with the Todd County School District, the Andes Central School District, and the Wessington Springs School District. The grants will involve teachers in summer workshops and other activities to develop lesson plans for math and science classes.
