The first official flood outlook of the late winter points to some areas of potential high water.
Mike Gillispie, hydrologist at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, says there is only one river basin they are concerned about right now
Gillispie says snow cover was fairly light this winter, and most of that has melted
Gillispie says the soil moisture is pretty high, so it wouldn’t take much rain to generate some flooding
Gillispie says the current outlook doesn’t consider any potential future rain or snow.
