After long discussions, thought, and prayer, Ron Volesky says he’s come to a family decision not to run for the Senate seat held by the retiring Tim Johnson. The Huron lawyer and former state lawmaker announced in September of last year he was kicking the idea of running for U-S Senate around. In a late Thursday afternoon press release Volesky says he has too many family responsibilites to tend to with three sons in college and a daughter in high school to devote the time and effort needed to run a political campagin. Volesky says he is endorsing Democrat Rick Weiland in his Senate run. He says Weiland would be an excellent candidate with a wealth of political experience in South Dakota and is familiar with the interworkings of Washington.
