The Huron City Commission held their regular weekly meeting last night. Meeting as the Board of Adjustments, Commissioners approved all three variance before them. City Engineer Mike Wever requested James Valley Housing’s plans for water and sewer for a variance on one of the projects near Mellette Avenue, because was resurfaced last year, and Wever did not want to tear up new asphalt in order to get utility service to new structures on the re-platted land. When the City Commission reconvened Commissioners approved a plat filed by Erving and Jean Eckmann. That plat was related to a variance request by Matt and Lori Rathjen heard by the Board of Adjustment.. Commissioners approved a change order for an asphalt overlay project and approved the appointment of Larry Quam to the Planning Commission. City Planner Ralph Borkowski says that two Commission spots remain open on the Planning Commission. Those interested in serving on the City Planning Commission could contact Borkowski at the City Planners office. The Commission also met in executive session for negotiations.
