A new education reform package passes the U.S. Senate and will make its next stop in the House of Representatives. The Every Child Achieves Act was approved on Thursday by a wide margin 81-19. The bill would essentially put an end to the No Child Left Behind reforms. South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says the measure allows states and local school boards to decide the best curriculum for their students.
Rounds is hopeful that the bill will eventually become law.
If it becomes law, it will end the federal government’s ability to mandate or incentivize states to adopt or maintain any particular set of standards.
