Two Men In Sioux Falls Murder Probe With Huron Ties

Two young men in the middle of a Sioux Falls homicide investigation had ties to Huron. Defendant Dwight Dauson Ree is facing alternating charges of murder and manslaughter in the death of Geu Ayouel. Ree went to school in Huron. Micheal Tobacco was on the Huron High School basketball team, appearing a team photo in last year’s State Tournament guide. Court documents indicate Ree, a second defendant Jerome Ewing and Ayouel left a home to get cigarettes. Tobacco stayed at the home with a 15-year-old female. Ewing returned to the home, bloodied and was asked to leave. Tobacco and the juvenile female left too. Investigators tracked down Ewing and Tobacco who were both wanted by the U.S Marshall’s service for federal parole violations. Tobacco told investigators that Ewing, Ree and the victim were drinking earlier in the evening and that Ayouel wanted to fight Tobacco. Later in the early morning hours Ewing told Tobacco details of what happened. Meanwhile Ree was arrested in Rochester, Minnesota, Ree told investigators he and Ewing were getting tired of Ayouel “running his mouth” and said quote “Watch this” Ree punched Ayouel in the face, then he and Ewing began stomping and kicking the victim.
