Two South Dakota based grain cooperatives have announced their intention to combine. The Boards of Directors for Ipswitch based North Central Farmers Elevator and Aberdeen based Wheat Growers have entered into a Letter of Intent to unify the two companies. Wheat Growers Director of Communications and Corporate Marketing Bill Pool says the merger is pending a vote from each co-op’s members.
Pool says the main headquarters for the combined business will come from Wheat Growers, while the CEO will come from North Central Farmers Elevator.
He says they’ll announce the new name for the combined entities before members vote on the merger.
Pool says over the next several weeks, North Central Farmers Elevator and Wheat Growers will work to finalize the plan and several local member meetings will be scheduled.
