Two Huron women face arson and burglary charges following a fire at a downtown Huron restaurant late last week. Thirty-one year-old Julia Lopez and 55-year-old Kathleen Wollman, both from Huron are facing second degree arson and third degree burglary charges. Huron Public Safety Director Gary Will Jr. says his officers along with the South Dakota State Fire Marshall’s Office and Division of Criminal Investigation have determined a Thursday night fire at the Tailgate Restaurant was arson in an attempted to cover up a burglary. Damage to the building in 400 block of Dakota Ave South is still being determined. A section of the building burned has smoke damage over a large area. All food in storage at the Tailgate was declared damaged and must be destroyed. Lopez and Wollman were taken to the Beadle County jail,. They were released Friday on personal recognizance bonds.
