The deadline is approaching for farmers to respond to fall National Ag Statistic Surveys. These USDA surveys will be used to determine the year end crop production and hog inventory numbers. South Dakota historically has had a low response rate. However, South Dakota State Statistician Eric Gerlach encourages farmers to participate and provide accurate information.
He says the USDA reports and statistical information has a variety of uses, but is typically a benchmark for establishing farm program payments and is used by Congress and others for planning purposes.
The deadline for completion for NASS surveys is December 16.
