The ESD Athletic Director’s voted unanimously Wednesday to recognize Tim Buddenhagen with the ESD Award of Merit. Coach Buddenhagen was nominated by staff at Huron High School.
The criteria for the Award of Merit is:
1. Sportsmanship,
2. Professional ethics,
3. Furthering the goals of interscholastic sports, and
4. Promoting positive conference relations.
Buddenhagen has been a Teacher and coach in the Huron School District for 31 years. He has been head boys basketball coach for the past 18 years, was head girls basketball for 13 years, head football coach for two years, and has been an assistant in boys and girls basketball, cross country, and track. His basketball teams have won four boys and two girls ESD titles, and state titles in 1989 for girls, and 2004 in boys. He has been region three coach of the year six times, and was boys basketball coach of the year in 2004. Coach Buddenhagen will receive this award at the ESD Track and Field Meet in Pierre May 12.
