Tigers Name New Wrestling Coach

Mat Goth has been named head wrestling coach of the Huron Tigers.

Goth is a 2013 graduate of Madison High School, where he qualified six times for the state tournament for the Bulldogs, placing four times, with his best a fourth. He wrestled two years at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, before returning to his home town and getting his degree at Dakota State University this past December. He has been an assistant coach at Howard the past two years. Goth says being a head wrestling coach has always been a goal.

He competed against Huron many times, and wrestled some familiar names.

Goth knows Huron’s wrestling tradition and wants to continue it.

Goth will also teach elementary PE. He replaces Dan McCarty, who is retiring after 23 years as head coach. Goth is just the fourth head wrestling coach in Huron over the past 42 years.
