Thune Says Budget Doesn’t Address Majority of Federal Spending

The budget released by the Trump Administration last week could lead to much bigger deficits than earlier predicted.

Economists estimate in the next year, the deficit will grow to one point seven trillion dollars.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says the budget does not address the majority of federal spending

Thune says there is no attempt to change spending on Social Security or Medicare

Thune says over time, positive changes could be made to short up the future of those entitlement programs

The budget assumes economic growth of over three percent a year to make up for the tax cuts.
