Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts released a draft of the Senate’s Bipartisan farm bill. South Dakota Senator John Thune, member of the Ag Committee is hoping they’ll be able to get that measure passed this year. He says farmers and ranchers need that because of all the uncertainty they’re facing.
Thune says he’s pleased the just released farm bill contains many of the provisions and initiatives he has sponsored.
Some of those provisions include Thune’s Soil Health and Income Protection program, requirements that Ag Risk Coverage and ARC County payments be calculated using the physical location of each farm’s tract of land and improvements in the Livestock Indemnity program.
