Three Injured in Crash Involving National Guard Vehicle Near of Mitchell

Authorities say three people were injured after a National Guard vehicle was involved in a crash with a semi-truck carrying liquid nitrogen.

The two-vehicle crash happened just after 7:30 Wednesday morning at the intersection of Highway 37 and National Guard Road north of Mitchell, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Two military personnel and the semi-truck driver were injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital, although the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The National Guard unit was returning home to Illinois after training in the Black Hills during the Golden Coyote training exercise.
