Huron police, with the assistance of the South Dakota Highway Patrol and it’s drug dog made seven arrests Thursday after conducting drug searches of lockers and vehicles at the Huron Middle and High School. Three individuals arrested following searches of the Huron High School were taken into custody on charges of marijuana possession. All three were students and all drugs were found in vehicles in the parking lot. School Resource Officer Cory Borg says there were no arrests made following searches at the Huron Middle School. Officers were not done with the arrests following the school searches. A traffic stop for a male with an active arrest warrant led to the arrest of four individuals in the car, after the officer making the stop suspected drug activity and called for the Highway Patrol’s drug dog. All four were also arrested for possession of marijuana. The arrests made in the traffic stop, about an hour after the school searches, are not connected to the operation at the Huron Schools. The Huron Police and Highway Patrol continue to investigate both items. Borg says the seven arrests show that Huron’s Drug Dog program can’t be put in place quick enough…
