Testimony Resumes In Huber Re-trial

Testimony resumed Tuesday morning in the re-trial of Ken Huber at the Beadle County Courthouse in Huron. Hyde County Emergency Manager Roger Buchholtz  testified he knew that Pam Huber could get a hold of him if life at home with Ken got difficult but said he was not aware of code that Huber would give him to know it would be time to help. Buchholtz said he would be able to tell by the sound of Pam Huber’s voice. The former Hyde County law officer also told jurors Ken Huber trained him in the proper use of a Glock handgun. Division of Criminal Investigation Agent Jason Baldwin spent most of the morning on the witness stand. Baldwin is the agent in charge of the Pam Huber murder investigation. In his testimony he claims the television set in the Huber’s bedroom was off when he performed a walk-through of the residence in the early morning hours following the late night shooting. According to earlier testimony, members of the Huber family were watching TV at the time of the shooting. Defense Attorney Clint Sargent grilled Baldwin about e-mails between Ken Huber and Cindy Erwin and about whether or not Huber’s gun safe was locked or unlocked when investigators scoured the house for clues. Witnesses also testified about a number of medications found in Ken Huber’s system and what affects they could have had on the former Highmore police chief facing murder and manslaughter charges in the shooting death of his wife Pam in 2007
