Terex Utilities, an equipment manufacturer for the global electric utility industry based in Watertown announced today their plans to consolidate the Watertown manufacturing operations into a single state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. He says the plan is to move out of their ten Watertown locations into a new manufacturing facility that will be located adjacent to Interstate 29 at Watertown.
Governor Dennis Daugaard said that South Dakota and Watertown were competing with four other states for the new facility.
Over 500 employees work for Terex at Watertown. It’s anticipated that another 150 to 200 new positions may be created with the new facility. The building will be Located in a 450,000 square foot structure on a 55-acre tract of land near the Redlin Art Center. When completed it will house the main assembly, fiberglass, paint, and installation plants under one roof.
