In 2013, over 10, thousand people died in the U-S because of drunk drivers. Beadle County States Attorney Mike Moore believes such technology, if developed, could bring D-U-I cases to a screeching halt…
Moore says the device could have other benefits….
Of the 151 D-U-I convictions in Beadle County in 2014, 100 were first time offenders. The average blood alcohol content of those 151 people was point-one-seven or well over double the legal limit. The highest average B-A-C for D-U-I arrests in 2014 was in December. Three people were arrested with an average B-A-C of point-two-seven-six, That is the rough equivalent of drinking a 12-pack of beer in one hour.
